Leslie B. ~ Foster Coordinator

I joined LOLIN in December 2009 as a foster and later took on foster coordinating. Growing up my family always took in stray dogs and cats and tried to rehome them or find their owners. It was something that I always enjoyed and it has stuck with me as an adult. After seeing the astonishing numbers of animals in local shelters I decided to check out some rescues to see what I could do to help and LOLIN stood out to me so I decided to apply to foster. My husband and I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of our own and usually we have 1-2 fosters so we always have a house full! When I have free time I also enjoy gardening, home remodeling and spending time with my family & friends.

I became a part of Love of Labs, IN in May 2006 after losing my beloved dog Chewbacca. I was approached about fostering a lab to save a life and I am so glad I chose to foster! I became a full time foster and actually adopted my first foster Jake. Fostering is very rewarding for me and I have helped over 60 labs since becoming involved with LOLIN. I added Snickers and Tater to my list of fosters I adopted. Even though I have 3 wonderful labs, I still take a foster or 2 into my home! LOLIN is a big part of my life and an awesome organization to be a part of!

Animals have always been a life long passion for me! Dogs and horses especially, have fond a place in my heart. I adopted Lady from LOLIN and after helping LOLIN at some events, Lady and I became a foster family for the lovable labs in need. We have now successful fostered several labs and have truly enjoyed every minute of it. The most rewarding thing about volunteering for LOLIN, no matter what job you do, is hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of adopted labs who are happy, healthy, and thriving in their forever homes! As Volunteer Coordinator, I hope to share the my passion for dogs and the rewarding volunteering experiences with LOLIN to encourage others to get involved!

I got into Rescue after seeing the urgent need for the wonderful breed my husband & I have always had. Every Labrador we were blessed to be owned by has shown an immense understanding of Human nature. I feel in step with this group, Love of Labs, over five years ago. This collection of folks are a kind, caring, wonderful group of people who have recognized the need to help those that can not help themselves. We are not the only rescue in town, but one that I can not see myself not being involved with. It is very rewarding to work with our team to pull a Labrador from a shelter into a loving foster home, fully vet it and then move it into a wonderful approved forever adoptive home.

I started working with animals in middle school with the Humane Society of Indianapolis's junior volunteer program and also worked as a volunteer in the kennels answering questions and helping potential adopters with the dogs. It was here I adopted my first rescue lab, Dallas, who was days from euthanasia. Knowing that such an amazing dog with the most gentle soul I’ve ever encountered would have been euthanized has always pushed me to keep rescuing, to save more dogs just like him. At Indiana University I volunteered at the Bloomington Animal Shelter and began rescue work as a foster for the All Breed Rescue Alliance. Three years ago I adopted by beautiful girl Sophie from Love of Labs and quickly found my rescue home with the amazing group of people here who dedicate themselves to Labrador rescue. I’m so lucky to work with such a great group of people!

Ashley T. ~ Home Visit and Telephone Interview Coordinator

I have been with LOLIN since 2009. I started by fostering a few dogs and went on to help with various things. I am now the home visit coordinator and really like being part of the process to get dogs into forever homes. I have a 2 year old lab and she is great and that is why I first started looking into volunteering for the rescue. I love being able to save dogs and find them their forever home!
